Somalia: Low flying
helicopters over Baladweyn town
Mogadishu Tuesday 15 Sep 2009 Shaaficiyah

Unspecified number of helicopters flying
in a low range were on Tuesday morning hovering in the atmosphere
of Baladweyn town the headquarters of Hiran region in central
Somalia.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning
the residents of Baladweyn town have sighted choppers floating
over their heads releasing out aggressive scary sounds, we
all dashed for cover, why we did so is because we heard that
there were helicopters which have raided in a village
near the coastal town of Baravo, killed a senior Al-Shabab
officer, and shocked the inhabitants in the area Khalif
Adan a resident in Baladweyn town speaking to Somaliweyn radio.
A part of Baladweyn town is controlled by Al-Shabab, while
another part is controlled by the Somali government.
The actual motive behind these aircrafts is
not manifest, despite there are rumors that the American governments
will crackdown the movement of Al-Shabab in any means in Somalia.
It was merely on Monday when American commandos
have killed one their top wanted men in Somalia in a very
systematically organized raid in a village near Baravo district
in the lower shabelle region in southern Somalia.
