Somalia: The Minister of
Humanitarian Affairs met with WFP officials

On Saturday the 31st of December a delegation
from the World Food Programme from the Kenyan capital Nairobi
has arrived in the Somali capital Mogadishu.
The delegation has met with Dr. Mohamoud Abdi
Ibrahim the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Resettlement
in the Somali government, both sides have discussed significant
issues primarily the humanitarian situation in the country.
One of the major points discussed was the
arrangement of the food distribution in Mogadishu and the
surrounding areas.
The WFP delegation was thrilled with the commitment
and the efforts of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and
Resettlement.
Since the legitimate government of Somalia
was elected in Djibouti some 9 months ago the Ministry of
Humanitarian Affairs and Resettlement has offered benevolence
helping hand to the Internal Displaced Persons particularly
those in Mogadishu and its surrounding areas, some of the
materials which the Ministry has provided these people include,
food and some of the none food items which the Ministry has
distributed are tents and alike.
We are enthusiastically appealing from
the donor countries, the International community, the European
union and the Muslim world to help the Somali people who are
displaced by fighting in the country particularly in the capital
Mogadishu said honorable Dr. Mohamoud Abdi Ibrahim the
Humanitarian Affairs Minister.
The Minister has attentively listened to the
officials of WFP and endorsed their talks.
